Papa is here

Tonight Dex is having a sleepover with Papa at his hotel. It's after midnight now, so I'm guessing things are going ok. It was nice to have a quick surprise-ish (well... very little notice anyway) visit from my dad. We spent the day playing at our house, on the swings at the playground, and taking a train ride. We attempted to swim at Papa's hotel, but their indoor pool was connected to the outdoor pool and while it was "heated"... not quite warm enough for our standards. However, Kieran did have his first (short) dip in the pool and a slightly longer dip in the hot (more warm) dip in the hot tub. (Note: not very long. I know littles aren't supposed to be in hot tubs for extended amounts of time. Especially boy littles)

When Papa went to check into his hotel and we were going to have D have some quiet time before reuniting, he cried, tried to escape to find Papa, and got his bathing suit out by himself. Needless to say- he is pretty much in love.

We spent the night in, eating pizza and watching tv before K and I headed out to leave the two boys to their slumber party. Tomorrow we'll have breakfast and then my dad will be on his way.

But for now, I have my littlest boy asleep next to me (I think cosleeping is our foreseeable future) that I can fully and selfishly lavish all my adoration upon for the next few hours without having to split it. Even if that just means staring at him while he sleeps.

Five Months

I have seriously sat down to write this so many times. I guess it's time to stop making excuses seeing as we are now closer to six months than five. (sobsobsob)

Kieran, you are one of the happiest babies I have ever seen. Your face either looks serious or so happy, but all it takes is a glance from someone to make that grin appear.

We started introducing a little bit of food, and you LOVE it. We have made everything at home so far, and are trying to give you as much organic stuff as possible. You have had sweet potato, bananas, applesauce (homemade- so much better than the store bought stuff, and Dex loves when I make it too. You both eat it warm), a tiny bit of avocado (not your fave) and a tiinnyy bit of oatmeal (homemade, pureed- also not your fave. You liked it much better once I added some applesauce to it).

You are becoming a master at rolling. I now put you down and know that you won't be in the same position when I look back. You can roll from your back to your tummy and then to your back again. You have learned to roll around so you can grab whatever you want that is in your sight. This is sadly starting to think about how your days coming to work with me are numbered as you start to become a little destroyer. Soon Daddy will get to take you to the playground so the three of you can have boys' days.

You have also truly found your voice. You love to see how loud you can yell once Dex has fallen asleep. I think you want to see if you can wake him up. ALSO- the other day you started saying "mamamababababamamama" which I LOVE. Dex said "Dada" for so long before he said "Mama" that you being so close is awesome!

I don't know how much you weigh, but other than a little food you are still exclusively breastfed. My days with nursing were almost over at this point with Dex, so it is amazing to me that we are still going strong. And your cheeks and thighs show that you are definitely getting enough nutrition.

Declan is your best friend. Without a doubt. You two love each other so much. If you make an unhappy noise, he is there to give you a kiss and make you feel better. If you are lonely, he runs over and you get the biggest grin on your face. I hope this closeness continues, because you two make my heart melt every single day.
